Rosa rugosa 'Rubra' (Rosaceae) Red Rugosa Rose Rosa Rugosa Rubra is the original species that founded the Rugosa Class. It was eagerly used by hybridizers in the late 19'th Century, and is again being used by serious hybridizers again today. Fragrant, disease resistant, winter hardy, and it sets large hips.
